Dr Abdul Burhan (Psychiatrist) - General Adult and Psychiatry of Old Age
MB Ch B - FRANZCP, Cert POA
Abdul graduated from medical school in 1990, during his work as medical officer in various specialties he was specially attracted to psychiatry. He was awarded with the Fellowship of Psychiatry by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry in 2008. Dr Burhan established the Shellharbour Psychological Medicine Clinic aiming to offer a holistic model of care to all of his clients. He works closely with other Psychiatrists, GP's, Clinical Psychologists and Mental Health Nurses to provide a comprehensive biopsychosocial experience.
Dr Burhan has extensive experience in all areas of psychiatry and a sound background in general medicine.

Dr Beverley Rayers (Psychiatrist) - Old Age Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry.
Bev obtained her Bachelor of Medicine at Southampton University Medical School in England. She worked throughout Australia and the UK in General Practice, Addiction Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Remote and Rural Health before undertaking further specialist training as a Psychiatrist.
She has a Masters Degree in Public Health and Tropical Medicine from Townsville University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Drug and Alcohol Treatment from the Imperial College, London.
She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and is a clinical Senior Lecturer in Mental Health at the University of Wollongong. Dr Rayers will generally only see clients over the age of 55 while in her clinic at Shellharbour.
Dr Habib Joseph Behi (Certified Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist).
Dr Behi qualified in Medicine in 2000 (UK) and undertook specialist training in Psychiatry in Wales, obtaining Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK) in 2007, Certificate in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (GMC UK) and since moving to Australia in 2011 has gained Fellowship with the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (2013). Habib has worked across community based and hospital (inpatient) environments looking after children, adolescents and young adults with mental illness and psychological problems.
Dr W.Wahaib Al Doorie (Psychiatrist) - General Adult Psychiatry
Dr Al Doorie is a Consultant General Psychiatrist with 24 years experience in Psychiatry. Dr Al Doorie graduated in 1986 MBCHB, with three qualifications in Psychiatry, 1994 FICMS, 2001 CAB, 2012 FRANZCP. He has been working in Australia over the last 7 years, moving to the area from Tasmania 4 years ago. He is a Consultant Psychiatrist in Shellharbour Hospital, and senior lecturer in UOW.
Dr Sunera Fernando (Psychiatrist) - General Adult Psychiatry
Sunera has eleven years experience of working in psychiatry. She graduated from medical school in 2001. She obtained her MD Psychiatry in 2007 and was awarded the FRANZCP in 2014, and has obtained PhD from UOW. Currently she is a staff specialist at the Nowra Community Mental Health Centre. Apart from clinical work, she is a Visiting Honorary Research Fellow of the University of Wollongong, and a Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in the Graduate School of Medicine (UOW). Sunera has expertise in all areas of psychiatry, with special interest in anxiety disorders.
Dr Harsha Ediriweera (Psychiatrist) - General Adult and Intellectual Disability Psychiatry.
Harsha graduated in medicine in 2001, and worked in different specialties until he undertook specialist training in psychiatry in Australia. He obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 2017 and works as a Consultant Psychiatrist at Shellharbour Hospital. Harsha has a keen interest in managing psychiatric disorders in intellectual disability and neurodevelopmental disorders, especially in older adolescents and adults. He was awarded a training fellowship in Intellectual Disability Psychiatry and completed the training. He also has experience in general adult psychiatry, and is available to assess and diagnose Autism Spectrum Disorder in adults.
Dr Biju Rajan (Psychiatrist) - Dr Rajan has ceased his practice in Shellharbour and moved to 4/100 Market St Wollongong, Ph 4244 2265.
Dr Chitra Parab
Dr Parab has been working as a developmental paediatrician in the Illawarra region since 2012. Her special interest is in the diagnostic assessment as well as management of developmental and behavioural issues in children such as Autism spectrum disorder, developmental delay/intellectual disability, learning difficulties, ADHD and behavioural concerns.
Dr Parab graduated in Medicine (MBBS) in 1997 and completed specialist training in Paediatrics (MD, DNB) in 2001 from Mumbai University, India. Dr Parab has been working in Australia since 2005 across a range of clinical settings in paediatrics. She has completed General Paediatrics as well as Developmental Paediatrics fellowships, FRACP with Royal Australian College of Physicians. She has also completed Masters Public Health.
Dr Chitra Parab's books are currently closed for new patients, and will re-open on Monday 18th September 2017.
Dr Roger Blackmore is a developmental paediatrician with many years of experience working with families of young children with developmental difficulties in South Western Sydney Local health District as a staff specialist paediatrician. His area of interest is in the assessment of pre-school age children. Dr Blackmore believes that working in partnership with parents and carers is the key to supporting families as well as involving other allied health professionals such as psychologists, speech pathologists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, and early education services as necessary to gain the clearest understanding of child and family needs.
Developmental assessments is a complex undertaking and requires patience, allowing children to show us not just what they find difficulty, but their strengths as well.
Ms Amanda Palamara (Psychologist) - General Adult
Amanda provides treatment and support for issues concerning: self esteem,
anger management, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, post natal depression,
grief & bereavement, medication compliance, pain management, domestic violence
and drug & alcohol issues. Amanda is also a Work Cover Service Provider for NSW.
Dr Sue Thomas (Clinical Psychologist)
Dr Sue Thomas specializes in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder, primarily through cognitive-behavioural approaches.
Sue completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology examining the cognitive neuroscience of OCD. Medicare rebates available.
Sue's books are currently CLOSED for new patients.
Mrs Narelle Pike (Psychologist) - Child/Adolescent and young adults. BOOKS CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR NEW PATIENTS
Narelle specialises in working with young people,their families and service providers. Narelle has a waiting list for new patients, and asks for new referrals to be submitted to the clinic.
Ms Paula Farrugia (Psychologist)
Paula is a registered psychologist who holds a Master of Applied Psychology, a Master of Education (Counselling Psychology) and a Master of Mental Health (Adult). She uses CBT as a primary treatment modality, however draws from a wide range of other theories and techniques enabling her to tailor sessions to the individual and specific needs of her clients. Paula has special interest in mood & anxiety disorders as well as workplace issues (WorkCover accredited), relationship issues, families, parenting and adolescents.
Ms Olga Tanevska (Psychologist) - General Adult Psychology
Olga is a registered psychologist with 10 years experience in providing support and treatment for a wide range of issues including depression & anxiety, relationship & family issues, grief & bereavement, work related issues & pain management, and adjustment to injury. Olga utilises a number of the latest evidence based therapies tailored to the individuals needs. She is also WorkCover accredited, and speaks fluent Macedonian.
Ms Natali Lazaroski (Psychologist) - Late adolescents/Adults.
Natali is a registered psychologist who offers professional and confidential counselling services for a wide range of mental health conditions and personal issues regardless of age, gender, race, and sexual preference. Special interest areas include trauma, chronic pain and anxiety disorders. Natali also has experience treating depression, grief, substance dependence, relationship issues, stress, personality disorders and anger management. Natali incorporates a client centered approach and has been trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches and disciplines including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT). Natali has previously worked in the areas of unemployment, vocational rehabilitation and crisis counselling. Natali is an accredited Workcover service provider, and an eligible service provider for Garrison Health Services.
Mrs Jeni Martin (Clinical Psychologist) – General Adult and Older People. JENI IS NO LONGER OPERATING HER PRIVATE PRACTICE.
Kristen is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, who holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Sexology, and Masters of Science in Medicine (STI's, BBV's & Sexual Health - counselling). Kristen specialises in Sex Therapy, seeing both males and females for a range of sexual difficulties. Referrals can be discussed with Kristen directly on 0404 363 423. Medicare rebates are available. Kristen is taking leave in 2017, and is no longer taking new clients.
